Theresa Mitchell, CFPP, developed a compassion for working with children with Mental Health needs over 30 years ago and currently wears many hats. She has been the Parent Support Coordinator for Project SUN since November 2019; the Family Resource Developer for the Helen Wheeler Center for Community Mental Health, since January 2002; and a mental health tech on the Children's Behavioral Units at Riverside Medical Center, since November 2009. She previously worked for Dr. Ronald Buczek, Child Psychologist, for 20 years as an Office Manager until he passed away in 2016..
Additionally, Theresa is a member of the Kankakee County Children and Adolescent Local Area Network (LAN 26) since 1990, where she was a Wrap Around Facilitator from 1996 until funding terminated. She is a Certified Family Partnership Professional.
Theresa resides in Chebanse with her husband, Scott Mitchell, who recently retired as a Captain/Firefighter/Paramedic; and their dog. She has a son and a daughter, and two stepdaughters,and a total of 5 grandchildren. Theresa’s goal is to continue providing support services for anyone navigating the system of care for mental health.
Causes that she cares about most is that all children and adolescents with disabilities receive continual mental health services, a safe environment to reside, and a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
