Jackie Haas is currently the President, CEO of the Helen Wheeler Center for Community Mental Health in Kankakee, where she has held this position since 2000. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1992. Jackie has 30 years of work experience in mental health, both clinical and administrative, consisting of work in the areas of inpatient and private practice with a focus on youth and families; and in the community setting focusing on the treatment of persons suffering from chronic and persistent mental illness. Jackie holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. She is also a certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid and credentialed to instruct the Adult, Youth, Public Safety, Fire/EMS and Higher Education modules of this course.
Jackie is actively involved in various groups throughout Kankakee County, as well as statewide. She is a past board member and board president of the Community Behavioral Healthcare Association. She is also actively involved in numerous local projects including the Partnership for Healthy Communities and serves as co-chair for the Behavioral health sub-committee, Project SUN, Pledge for Life board member and current board secretary, Kankakee County Mental Health Council, Kankakee County Renewed Opportunities board member, and is involved with many of the specialty court programs.
In addition to her work at The Helen Wheeler Center, Jackie also serves on the Kankakee County Board representing District 27.
Jackie and her husband Bill have been married for 27 years and reside in Bourbonnais. They have two adult children, Nicole and Ben.
